Esthetician / Acne Specialist
Christina is originally from Washington state where she was first exposed to Face Reality and Dr. Fulton’s approach to treating acne. After seeking acne treatment from four dermatologists and enduring two rounds of Accutane, Christina finally found an esthetician that specialized in acne. The Acne Treatment Center in Vancouver, Washington not only helped Christina gain control of her own skin but also inspired her to pursue her own Esthetics License in 2017 as well as the Face Reality Acne Specialist Certification. Christina’s passion for treating acne is the silver-lining to the years she struggled to clear her own skin.
Christina has also been a Registered Nurse since 2011 and has worked in hospitals in Washington, Oregon, and now Illinois. She currently works in the Intensive Care Unit at Loyola University Medical Center.

OUR CLEARING PROGRAM
How long will it take to get clear?
The short answer: about 12-16 weeks. Why? Because it actually takes up to 90 days for acne already deep in the skin to form in the first place. Acne will surface after beginning treatment, however, the duration, severity and amount of blemishes will slow during the clearing process. The products and home care protocol you follow will help keep new acne from forming—acne that would surface 90 days from the start of any treatment regime.
Custom home care
Skin Theory will provide you with a custom home care routine that will have your acne under control in approximately 12-16 weeks, although some types of acne do take longer to clear than others. A custom home care regimen takes a multiple approach: your type of acne, your skin type, your skin sensitivity, lifestyle/diet, and your vitamin supplements which aid in clearing.
The key to ultimately getting clear skin? You!
You play an integral role in ensuring your skin's clearing success. What do you have to do?
Apply a home care regimen twice a day
Schedule treatments every two weeks (we will also make home care adjustments (to strength and frequency), as needed, until we see consistent clearing
Make lifestyle adjustments, including limiting some foods, medications, cosmetics, stress, and skin and hair products with pore-clogging ingredients
How often do you need to visit Skin Theory?
Your progress will be closely monitored by our Skin Theory Acne Specialist Team, with adjustments made every two weeks until there is consistent clearing (usually around week 12-14).
What happens at a treatment?
Very mild corrective peels or enzymes are used to boost your home care efforts along with extractions of any existing acne.
You will be instructed on how to use your products at these bi-weekly appointments with specific written instructions provided to you to take home and reference. Acne treatment appointments should be scheduled for every two weeks until clear. It typically takes about 6 to 8 services over a three- to four-month period of time to get clients mostly to completely clear.
What is the treatment cost & homecare cost?
Each 30-minute treatment is $60. Expect to do 6-8 treatments. Home care products are required to clear. A client's first set of face products & supplements typically costs between $150-$200 depending on needs. If also clearing the back a separate / stronger product(s) are needed. Expect an additional $60-80 for the back. Some actives are in smaller bottles and we will replace these with stronger actives mid-way through. This can cost approximately $30-50.

CLIENT VIDEO "HOW TO CLEAR SKIN FAST"
"Both of my teenagers have had their skin cared for by Karen. The results were swift and stunning. They are no longer spending precious morning minutes covering up blemishes. Instead, they enjoy extra sleep and renewed self-confidence. I was so pleased with the results for my teens that I began seeing Karen for my skincare. My skin is looking younger than it has in years!"
